MUMIA IN FANIMA TU SLOVENIA
It is a great pleasure for MUMIA - Underground World Animation Festival - to present during the Fanima Tu in Slovenia a special selection of the best Brazilian animations exhibited in its eight editions.
The Brazilian production reveals a latent creativity and a diversity of techniques - stop motion, 3D, pen and paper, wood, clay and puppet animation - that together design an explosion of colors and artistic expressions and tendencies.
MUMIA´s goals are to unveil new talents while being an artistic incubator for young beginners, to disseminate the cultural animation production and contribute to the development of this audiovisual art, its language, specific format and means of production.

8 MUMIA - INTERNATIONAL JURY
Diego Akel (Fortaleza, Brazil, 1983)
Majoring in Philosophy and Graphic Design, Diego Akel is an illustrator, cartoonist, painter, animator and filmmaker. He has began his experiments with animated film in 1998, and now has accumulated more than a dozen autoral short films produced, having participated in numerous festivals and received several awards. In much of his work he directs, produces, animates, edits and mixes sound. The techniques used are several, including drawing, painting, cutouts and more recently, digital painting. His recent short "Lines and Spirals" has won recognition at screenings around
the world, including the ANIMANIMA 09 from Serbia, HAFFTube 09 from Holland, the Brazil screening of World Animation Day 2009 and Anima Mundi 2010.
FABIO YAMAJI (São Paulo, 1974)
Born in São Paulo, graduated designer from Mackenzie University and studied animation at HGN Productions. Freelancer in the field of Cinema, works as a stop motion animator, filmmaker and editor. Fabio is also photographer of concerts for the portal Yahoo and Animation professor at the Istituto Europeo di Design and University Anhembi-Morumbi.
MARCELO MARÃO (Rio de Janeiro, 1971)
Marão graduated at the School of Fine Arts at Rio de Janeiro. He directed nine animated shorts, including “CEBOLAS SÃO AZUIS” (1996), “CHIFRE DE CAMALEÃO”
(2000), “ENGOLERVILHA” (2003), O ARROZ NUNCA ACABA (2005) and O ANÃO QUE VIROU GIGANTE (2008). Marão works with animation for TV and cinema. He was the first President of ABCA (Brazilian Animation Association) and teaches animation at PUC University.

QUIÁ RODRIGUES
Screenwriter, animator and director for TV. His first animated short film: "From Windows to Cinema", received over thirty awards and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 2000. His most recent work is the stop-motion film: "Cardboard Head," based on a story by braziliam writer John Rio is director of the only entertainment program on broadcast TV, the TV Animania, Brazil.
DANILO PENA
Danilo Pena is a journalist and television producer. Produced several programs on TVE - RJ / TV BRASIL like “Supertudo” and “Recoste Cultural”. He is currently a producer of the Animania, single window animation network television in
Brazil. Held several independent productions since 2002, as the movie "Raízes", winner of the popular jury CineCufa Festival 2007, and the project of independent program "Cataldo Convida", currently in development.
MAURICIO GINO
Maurício Gino was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He’s animator,graduated in Visual Comunication (FUMA, 1989) and in Fine Arts (UFMG, 1996). He teaches animation at the Fine Arts School - UFMG, since 2005.

Mercan is a Martian who lived quietly on their planet, until one tragic day when a
spaceship, coming from the planet Earth with a message of peace, killed his dog. Mercan, furious, travels to our planet looking for revenge, however, two misfortunes happen:his ship was destroyed on landing and, most terrible, was just down in Argentina.

8 MUMIA - SPECIAL SCREENING NURSERY RHYMES - MULTI RIO
Since 1993, MultiRio, Municipal Multimedia Company, connected to the Municipal
Education Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro, develops cultural and educative media
products aiming teachers, students, families and the society. MultiRio reaches its
audience through TV, web and printed materials or also through the integration
of several platforms resulting in multimedia projects, enabling the construction of
knowledge more effectively and comprehensively.
Through its products and channels of communication, the company updates the
knowledge of Education professionals, promotes the democratization of information,
social inclusion and universal access to the cultural assets of the city, establishing a continuous and permanent dialogue between educators, students and society about the collective construction of knowledge and citizenship.
Always attentive to technological advances, MultiRio researches new languages and
new formats in video, animation, printing and interactive and digital media, in order
to strengthen communication with children, youth, educators, the entire society and
therefore, work more effectively for the quality of the education in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Among the television series produced by the company since its creation, there is a
vast amount of content made for children and adolescents, which explores the specific
scholar curriculum and also new interpretations of Brazilian legends produced in video animation with the participation of public school students.

A girl meets and interacts with a very heterogeneous group, trying to blend in.
Allegory to the discovery, during childhood, of the diversity of the world and its

A child feels rejected due to the arrival of his little sister, but a situation of danger make him realize that in fact they all love each other deeply.

This Brazilian popular nursery rhyme talks about an old woman weaving on a loom
and inspired the narrative that makes an analogy between her act, the natural laws of nature and man's relationship with the environment, highlighting the life cycle in which we are all included.

While following a military parade, a boy dreams of the heroic rescue of the national
flag during a fire at the headquarters.

Animation based on on the nursery rhyme "Mister Wolf." Children sing a song over
and over again, bothering the wolf who tries to escape from that torment.

A girl visits several houses and is always chased by termites, that gobble up all of them.

Inspired on the Brazilian nursery rhyme "A Linda Rosa Juvenil", the animators create
new situations dealing with characters from traditional fairy tales.

8 MUMIA - SPECIAL SCREENING UNIVERSITY OF CHILDREN
Special Program University of the Children
University of the Children is an extension project of Federal University of Minas Gerais that aims to deliver scientific knowledge to students of public school of Minas Gerais States. Firstly, students are offered workshops and their curiosities, expressed at that first meeting, represent the starting point for the production of radio programs and video animations. Students receive the productions back in a recorded CD. This material is also made available in the Internet which allows creation of a great web of knowledge.
The program presented at the MUMIA show is a series of animations related to the human body and is available at www.ufmg.br/universidadedascriancas.
